Love it!

I filled it with gas and oil and right out of the box, it starts with one pull! Fantastic! I'm slowly breaking it in, and looking forward to using it for camping this summer. So far, very happy!

Excellent inverter generator

Play Video
I like that there is not a lot of extras with this unit (key fob, digital read out) less to have problems with and this gives you a lower price of the unit. Very quiet no problem with the unit. To change the oil you have to remove the battery to drain plug and the square ? rubber plug to drain the oil out of the bottom of the unit. Contacting the seller had no problem doing this threw Amazon. A question they answered for me was fast response. Up date this inverter generator has proven itself on the fifth wheel I have both ac /refrigerator / microwave it has power with no problems. Yes I have soft start on both ac.

Most affordable inverter generator - Good performance and easy to start. Starts 13.5k AC no prob!

Picked this up a few weeks ago. An AMAZING value. However, it did not meet its output specification of 2kW running (continuous). Waveform was pretty ugly once we passed 1850W and my unit would shut down around 2kW. I feel this generator was fluffed a little in marketing on power output. At least my sample was! More positive though... What you cannot see is this generator and inverter (the insides) are found on a few much more expensive generators. I did a full review of this gen on the tube and you can search for it by PN. Load test, first start, teardown... all of it! If you wanna know about this gen, go check it out!

Well worth the purchase!

Honestly I was hesitant because I've never heard of the brand but it has so far performed as expected. Very quiet, video is hard to do it justice and this was on a light load, it was running a mini diesel heater at the time of recording. Started very easy every single time, I did a “break in” cycle to ensure it lasts a long time. I also added an hour meter to it for ease of a service schedule. Not heavy at all, very portable and easy to move from place to place. I use it in my trailer as well as my barn so I move it around a lot. Sets up fast, doesn't come with engine oil but has everything else included minus the hour meter I added. I would recommend buying this, not worth spending more than double for one that's red and supposedly has less decibels, I don't believe that to be the case. Very comparable to the red one that I'm not mentioning the name of. Runs everything I've needed it to so far and fuel consumption seems to be on par.

Oil light

Please read this. I received this Bilt Hard 2500W generator today 8/24/23. Upon opening the shipping box, and removing the unit, the manual says to add oil before initial start up. I added the recommended 10-30 weight (valvoline) to the top of the oil fill opening, approximately one half quart, sealed it closed, then added fuel, it started on the first and pull… Success!! 30 seconds later it died… the low oil light came on and shut itself off, two more times in succession the light came on and shut itself off. I lost confidence in the generator. The oil was full, I didn't know what else to do, sad I would need to return it.Then I thought the oil light is telling me there's not enough oil, “but the directions said there was” so I tipped the unit slightly over and added approximately two more ounces, and screwed the oil plug back in, placed it back on the ground, gave it a start, and it ran uninterrupted for two hours. There's more than a few discussions about the low oil light giving other owners trouble, if that's the case like I experienced add two more ounces of oil, it worked for me. Just remember when you unscrew the oil plug it's going to immediately drain off the extra oil. I will give an update at a later date.

SUPER QUIET

It's a compact dynamo. From 10-15 ft away you can carry on normal conversations with no problem. It runs everything in my camper that I need for as long as I want. The only issue I had was that I couldn't run my AC and the microwave at the same time but it wasn't a problem. It's light, I'm 71 yrs old and I have no issues carry it around . It starts right up , easy to maintain and set up. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I needed to.

, but.....update

Although not a Prime distributor the Inverter was received quickly (less than five days from order), well packaged and all accessories noted were included (the extra long LP hose is a benefit). Ran a 3 hour break in including bring the load to 50% of capacity for 1 hour and 75% of capacity for a couple minutes for a Db check. Surprisingly quiet for a budget minded Generator/Inverter of this size 55.3 Db in Eco and 64.5 Db under high speed load. SO why only 3 stars? when I was researching options I found where the 4,000 watt unit had a oil drain tube installed (expected/assumed) the 5,500 would have the same...nope! Oil change procedure from the manual attached, Run engine until warm, remove oil fill cap, turn unit on side to drain oil...WTH! Not only will this be messy but it's extremely environmental unfriendly. If I had know this there's a good chance I would have selected a different MFG. Going to Harbor Freight and picking up a fluid transfer pump to change the oil.First power outage use proved this is the little Inverter that can. Supplied enough power to run two fridges, two freezers, multiple fans an lights and a Pit Boss 1600 pellet smoker.

I Actually Use the Display

A lot of digital panels feel like decoration, but this one gives me the numbers I care about. I can check watts, voltage, and run time at a glance. The unit still has some weight to it, but one person can reposition it short distances.

Plenty for What I Needed

I ran a few essentials and the output stayed steady. It gives me useful backup power without feeling like a huge open-frame generator.

Glad It Runs on Propane Too

Gasoline isn't always what I have ready. Being able to hook up propane gives me another option and makes backup planning a little less stressful.

Good Mix of Size and Features

I wanted something for the RV that could also help during an outage. This covers both without taking over the whole storage area. It's around 62 pounds, so I wouldn't call it light, but I can live with that for the output.

The RV Outlet Is Convenient

I plugged the RV in without digging through my box of adapters. The display was easy to read, and I liked being able to check the load while things were running.

Handled an Outage

Ran the tools we needed during an outage and stayed reasonably quiet. Pull starting takes a firm tug, but it usually fires without much fuss.

Propane Option Is Useful

Propane is handy for backup use when stored gasoline is not ideal.

Know That It Is Recoil Start

Controls are clearly labeled, switching fuel sources is straightforward, and the unit is light enough for one person to reposition carefully. It is recoil start only, which was fine for us, though someone expecting electric start should know that before ordering.

Good Match for Our Trailer

The 30-amp RV outlet is the reason we chose it. It powered our trailer essentials without needing a pile of adapters.

Easy Display

Compact for the output, and the display is easy to read at a glance.

Easy to start and runs super quiet. Bought another brand only days apart. Finished the break in on both machines and honestly, unless it lets me down in the future I like the Bilt Hard better.

Great little generator

I can’t give a long-term review for obvious reasons but short term I love it for the money you can’t beat it

Haven't used it yet but it appears to be ready for next summer for the hurricane season. Looks like a good size machine but not too heavy. Very happy with the purchase 😄
