I've hand split my wood for years and Father Time has finally caught up with me. I decided to research and purchase a basic wood splitter. After several hours of googling, reading, and comparing I determined to find out who builds them and where the companies were located. So pleased that I went to the Bilt Hard website and learned about them. Most of my research had been on large company websites but I like to buy 'American'. After I went to bilthardusa.com it was all over. The splitter was less expensive on their website. I ordered it. In 3 days it was delivered. It's great, I love it, and use it serveral days each week. I split mostly juniper for kindling (very easily) and have tried pinyon pine which doesn't split as easily but it's doable. I have a lot of honey locust which splits fine but is a much tougher wood than juniper or pinyon. I have tried some large knotty pieces of locust but am very careful not to overtax the splitter. As long as I stay with the smaller wood it's great. I do not split wood to sell to others only for personal use. For personal use I think it's a great piece of equipment and I'm very pleased.
It's easy to operate and it splits wood excellent. I can split kindling real easy by adjusting the slide. It really impresses me a lot .
I love this saw & it didn’t even take long to put it together. I cut down 10 pine trees and some heavy bushes 3” around off the fence line. It’s perfect and what a chain saw it is.
I'm sure it works great on soft woods, but on hard woods, anything larger than 1 3/4" in diameter, it will stall out. Other than that, a solid little machine.
Thought I would share this, I am at 5000 feet elevation putting the choke on all the way fouls the spark plug. I put it half way to completely off and it starts fairly quickly. It cuts like butter, I had to get used to how much gas power to use in cutting the different tree sections. I have past experience in pruning trees this was the first time in cutting a tree down. Man, it was a real workout as it was on a slope. The only complaint the cover for the pull cord had two small pieces of plastic break on the bottom section, needs better plastic material, otherwise I highly recommend buying this chainsaw.
Extremely satisfied customer!!!
